Summary
As the Principal Systems Engineer, Payments, you will lead the strategy, architecture, and execution of Red Lobster’s enterprise payment solutions. This role combines deep technical expertise with strategic vision, enabling seamless, secure, and scalable payment technologies. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams across engineering, operations, compliance, and finance to ensure our payment infrastructure supports business innovation and growth.
Essential/Primary Duties, Functions, and Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership and Architecture
- -Define the long-term vision and roadmap for Red Lobster’s payment infrastructure across all platforms.
- - Lead architecture decisions and guide teams in implementing scalable and secure solutions.
- - Establish and enforce enterprise-wide best practices and policies for payment systems.
Cross-Functional and Vendor Leadership
- - Act as the primary liaison between IT, finance, operations, and executive leadership on payment initiatives.
- - Manage strategic relationships with third-party vendors and service providers.
- - Drive vendor selection, contract negotiation, and performance evaluation.
Innovation and Transformation
- - Evaluate emerging technologies and lead adoption of next-generation payment solutions.
- - Lead proof-of-concept initiatives and pilot programs with internal and external partners.
Security, Compliance, and Risk Management
- - Oversee end-to-end compliance with PCI-DSS and other regulatory standards.
- - Partner with legal and security teams to ensure data protection and transaction integrity.
- - Lead audits, risk assessments, and incident response planning.
Team Leadership and Development
- - Mentor and develop a team of engineers and analysts focused on payment systems.
- - Promote a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and innovation.
- - Align team goals with organizational objectives and KPI measurement.
Job Requirements (Skills & Experience)
- - 8+ years in payment systems architecture, integration, and strategy.
- - Experience managing large-scale, mission-critical payment environments.
- - Proven track record in leading cross-functional technology initiatives.
- - Strong understanding of PCI-DSS and regulatory compliance frameworks.
- - Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- - Background in hospitality or retail environments preferred.
Education and Certifications
- - Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
- - Certified Payments Professional (CPP), PMP, or equivalent leadership credential preferred.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
